4 Simple Steps to Stop Slicing Forever

No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.

During a recent lesson, I had an inspiring conversation with a student. This gentleman is a very good golfer but he hasn’t been playing up to the level he’s used to. He told me he was slicing and his swing was over the top and I agreed after watching. He then mentioned he wanted to improve this motion. I gave him some drills and some exercises to work on.

The gentleman came back later in the month for another lesson and I asked how it has been going. There were small improvements, which were to be expected. He then told me about all of the issues that he is facing with his body and why he will not be able to make this change.

There definitely are physical limitations that will impact your golf but often it’s our mental limitations that hold us back.

The first step to learning is welcoming new information and understanding that you don’t know everything. If you want to improve your golf swing you have to be open to change.

There are many reasons you slice the golf ball. If you want to stop, here are the steps you need to take to make that happen.

  1. Stop making excuses of why you can’t stop slicing
  2. Figure out what is holding you back and making the change difficult
  3. Be open to, and understand the changes you hope to make
  4. Put effort into overcoming limitations and making those changes
